Amy Wilson and Bond Mathews both recently completed Leadership Clemson, a program designed to encourage involvement in leadership within the community. This program provides an understanding of how the community works, and the challenges it faces. In addition, leadership skills are honed, and opportunities to enhance the community are highlighted.
As a class project, Amy and Bond were part of the team to plan and implement Feed Your Soul, an event held at Catherine Smith Plaza in downtown Clemson. The event’s focus was to bring awareness to the area non-profits through an entertaining evening featuring local restaurants, live music and prizes. CAT buses took participants to Clemson Community Care, The Clemson Area African American Museum, the Child Development Center and the Arts Center. Other non-profits were had featured speakers at Catherine Smith. Overall the evening was a great success, with over $2000 raised for the new Clemson Community Foundation, a project of Leadership Clemson 2013, which provides grants and assistance to area non-profits.
