Daniel Lions Logo2015 was another outstanding year for our area high school, D.W. Daniel High School. Here are a few recent statistics released in the school newsletter.

Just one more reason to love the Upstate of South Carolina!

  • US News and World Report once again ranked Daniel High School (DHS) as one of the top 10 traditional public high schools in South Carolina for 2014-15.
  • US News and World Report once again ranked Daniel High School (DHS) as one of the top 10 traditional public high schools in South Carolina for 2014-15.
  • Last spring our students took 501 AP tests (a significant increase from 330 the previous year) with a passing rate of 79% – the highest passing percentage of any school with over 500 tests taken.
  • The DHS fine arts program is strong, highlighted by the D.W. Daniel High School Band program earning the prestigious 2014 Outstanding Performance Award given by the South Carolina Band Directors Association.
  • A/B Honor Roll for the first quarter: 38.56% of our students (430) had all grades above an 85. 127 students had all A’s, while 303 had all A’s and B’s.
  • In athletics, our fall sports were very successful. Our varsity football team qualified for the state playoffs. Our Boys Cross Country team came in third in the region and finished eighth at State. Our Girls Cross Country Team won region and came in second at State. Our girls’ golf team won region, Upper State, and came in third at State. Our girls’ tennis team won region and advanced to the Upper State finals. Ten members of our swim team qualified for State. And our volleyball team finished second in the region. The “Tradition of Excellence” continues!
